At The Hospital: A Pocketful of Joy Thing

This is me, waiting to go to surgery to fix my back.

Hello everyone! Wish me good fortune! ( I don’t believe in luck!)
I am happy today for all the well-wishers, for all my friends, and for my followers. I pray that you will have a wonderfully productive day.
What can you do to help spread the joy?

Joy In The Midst Of Pain

Have you ever had one of those days where you woke up and everything is right with your world, but you are in excruciating pain anyway?
I have nothing to complain about. For the moment, my life is as perfect as it has ever been.
Still, this morning, I woke up with an odd pain, a gripping, electrical pain that wraps around my torso and won’t let go. It comes on at every movement, so I have to play snail in order to get around. Any sudden move brings on an unintended scream, so I try to plan these things out. Very tiring.
And as if that wasn’t enough, halfway through breakfast, I began to get a migraine headache. So, now that I have that somewhat under control, I am lying in bed and typing out this post on my phone.
Where does the joy enter in to all this, you may ask?
To begin with, the fact that I have a means to control the pain. I have had to go to the emergency room for shots to ease the pain of the migraines before. Now, I have medication, but even better than that, I use do TERRA essential oils to help. The Deep Blue really does a number on them. And the result is almost immediate!
Also, the fact that I can take the time to lie in bed and recover. Few people have that luxury. Until I married my husband, I didn’t.
And I can’t say enough about my husband. He cooks because he wants to, he does the laundry because it needs to be done, (fortunately, I’m well enough that this chore is now a team effort) he does the grocery shopping because the Whole Foods store is on his way home from work. (I do the big box shopping with him at BJ’s.) And his attitude is that he’d have to do these things anyway, if he was by himself. What a man! Isn’t it any wonder that I love him?
And there’s the joy – love. Love is selfless, it is kind and gentle, it is joyous!
Are you feeling pain in your life? I challenge you to find the joy. Do you know of someone who is suffering? I challenge you to love that person. Help that person. Become the love. Become the joy.

The Gospel Brings Me Joy

Today I had the privilege of attending Church. For those of you who don’t know, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most people know us by Mormons. And yes, I am a Christian. My Church is named for Him!
The main purpose we have for meeting with the saints each week is to partake of the Sacrament for repentance and the renewal of our baptismal covenants. Other Christian organizations may call this the Lord’s Supper, or Communion.
And what are our baptismal covenants? That we are willing to take upon us the name of Christ and always remember Him, and keep His commandments.
Everything else we do centers around this. And why do we do this? Are we not forgiven if we simply proclaim Jesus as our Savior?
He said for us to be baptized. (see John 3:5) Through the Apostle Paul, we are also
called to repent. (see 1Corinthians 5:7) There are many more scriptures I could quote, but my point is that we all have cause to repent daily, perhaps even by the minute.
And so, I would like to leave you with a quote from President Ezra Taft Benson, 13th President of the Church, “For those who pay the price required by true repentance, the promise is sure. You can be clean again. The despair can be lifted. The sweet peace of forgiveness will flow into your lives.”
I know this is true because I have lived it…on both sides. I now strive to repent daily, hourly, sometimes by the minute. That’s why it was such a privilege to meet with the saints today.

Is there a question about my Church you have that I can help you with?

From My Window – Joy

Today is a day like no other day in the history of the world. And do you know why? Because there has been no day like it since before the earth was created. And there will not be another one like it again. Ever.
So what does this mean to you and me? That this is a unique opportunity we need to grab ahold and run with! We can celebrate March 2, 2015, because it is! Set off fireworks of creativity: write that book, that blog, that poem or short story. Paint that picture, sculpt that sculpture. Take that photograph.

This is the view from my front window, which also happens to be our motorhome. I love this from so many levels. I have the possibility of ever-moving vistas, I have a beautiful view, fodder for writing ideas, and so much more! For today’s celebration, I have something as simple as gorgeous blue skies and crystal blue water that lie out in front of me, granting my eyes a smorgasbord of happiness right outside my door.
What are You going to celebrate on this awesome day?
