Memory Monday, April 16, 2018

I decided to start a new addition to my blog. I want to write an autobiography, but there’s so much to write about, I considered this to be a great way to collect my thoughts.

I grew up in Florida, but was born in New Jersey, where I spent the first 3 1/2 years of my life. My first posts will be about the half-dozen or so memories I have of my time there. I’m not sure of any chronological order, but today’s is what I believe is my first memory.

I’m trying to insert a picture here of when I was 2, but can’t figure out how to do it, so I’ll just continue with the story.

It was bedtime, and my mom laid me down in the crib. I was afraid of the dark, but didn’t want anyone to know, so I kept calling my mom back into the room. I said I was thirsty, and she said I didn’t need any water. This went on about three times when finally I admitted I was scared. She told me just to lie down, and I wouldn’t even remember it in the morning.

I thought to myself, “I will too!” But I laid down in the very middle of my crib, so the monsters couldn’t reach in between the bars and get me.

Here it is, over sixty years later, and I still remember! I guess I’ve always had it in me to prove people wrong! Lol!

What memories are you thinking about tonight?

A Pocketful of Joy to Fill Your Day

  1. I remember when I was two I went over to my brother Stephen crib. He must have been around six months. Anyway Stephen reached out his little hand in friendship and I bit him! He screamed so loud that Mommy came running. What did you do?! Mom was highly upset. I got ejected from the room.
Fortunately Stephen has no memory of this and even if he did Stephen is very forgiving. Praise be to the Lord no more biting and we are closer than peas in a pod. Praise God! LOL!
