Blogmas Day 17, Memories Monday, December 17, 2018

Christmas 1986. My dad and step-mom came out to Utah from Florida that year and spoiled my kids rotten! Junior is standing here in one of his gifts…a brand new coat. Couldn’t have come at a better time, too. That year, the entire country (including Hawaii) was having a deep freeze…except for Florida. (Hawaii’s “freeze” was just unusually cold for them)

You can see how piled the snow was. Makes a person grateful for central heat! Our car’s heater quit working that winter, and we had to use a Bic lighter held up against the windshield in order to even see to drive! But at least we were warm!

What memories are you mulling over this Christmas season?

Real life, guys. I haven’t been posting because I’ve been in the hospital with a broken back. I’m home now, waiting on physical therapy, as there’s nothing else medically that can be done for me. I don’t take pain meds because they nauseate me so badly. I’m actually allergic to many. But the pain is manageable for the mostpart. I just need time to heal. It will take about 6 weeks.

So how are you continuing your celebration of the Christmas season? (I’ve got lights! Lol!)

Blogmas Day 12, Wellness Wednesday, December 12, 2018

Tonight’s dinner

I’m mixing the two together. There’s no way I could eat it all, but if I did, it’s only 650 calories total, with 26% fat. Pretty healthy, and tasty, and oh, so simple!

Sometimes you just have to take a break. When I do, I try to go for the healthiest options available.

What healthy foods are you preparing this Wellness Wednesday?

Blogmas Day 11, Tuesday, December 11, 2018

I wish I knew how to upload videos, because this light display has a soundtrack! We watched as our neighbor painstakingly put every light, tree, and all in place. We could hardly wait to see it lit. I think it was worth it.

It’s been a family tradition to drive around and see all the displays. When I was a child, we went on the Air Force Base. Planes and rockets look really cool all lit up!

Enjoy!

What family Christmas traditions do you carry on?

Blogmas Day 10, Memories Monday, December 10, 2018

Did I ever tell you about my fat cat? He was a 22 pound vegetarian! No lie! He hated meat, and especially fish. He’d always find something to bury it with if we ever gave him any.

He would also try to climb our Christmas tree every year. We finally had to leave it undecorated for about a week. In the middle of the night, we would invariably be awakened with a crash, each time the tree tipped over. After two or three times, we could decorate the tree, because Tigger would have learned his lesson….for that year.

This cat was so small when we got him, he could stand up in the palm of my hand. In this picture, he’s waiting for us to turn our backs so he can bop the ornament off the tree. I guess I had lessons of my own to learn. Never hang ornaments off the lowest level of your tree to tantalize your cat!

I sure miss my Tigger. He was the most layed back, gentle cat. Except when he got into the catnip that grew wild in our yard. But that’s another story for another day.

What Christmas memories are you mulling over today?

Blogmas Day 9, Sunday Scriptures, December 9, 2018

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord;

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Isaiah 11:1-5

Just a cute little decoration I got in the mail yesterday. It’s a snowman topper that fits on your essential oil bottles. I have it on my doTERRA holiday joy oil blend. Hanging it on my mini Christmas tree, I’ll share with you next week sometime. I love Christmas!

How are you decorating your life this Christmas season?

Blogmas Day 7, Thursday December 7, 2018

I feel like I should be paying homage to the day that threw us into WWII, because it had such an impact on my life. Of course, it was 13 1/2 years before my birth, but it changed my father completely, which shaped the entire course of my life.

So I thought I would share a little story about this:

The amaryllis is a beautiful flower that blooms around Christmastime, and legend says that these flowers grew from Joseph’s staff, the earthly father of Jesus. His life, like that of my father to me, set the course of the life of the Savior.

A nice little reminder of the symbolism around Christmas.

What symbols remind you of the Christmas season?
