It’s winter here in Florida. The temps might not look too bad to those in northern parts of the US, but check out the humidity. The cold goes right through you because it’s so damp.

So what to do? Make a big pot of lentil/veggie soup. Still very sick. Had a second covid test. Still negative. That’s good news. Bad news is I think I might have pneumonia. I have had it about 10 times in my life. I see the doctor Friday. I’m just not getting better. Maybe I need an antibiotic to kick this thing in the butt.

Meanwhile, soup.

This has been quite a week. I have been very sick but was tested for covid and it is negative, so I just have the plain ol’ flu. I am finally beginning to feel better, but it comes in waves. I thought this week I would just show you a little of where I live, places I like and of course, food I have been eating.

This is the view of the Gulf of Mexico, about a block or two from my home.

And this is my favorite vegan restaurant in the area. It’s in Siesta Key.

And this is breakfast, snack, and dinner. Breakfast is my vegan Spanish omelete to which I add broccoli and onions. Delish! Of course, you’ll recognize the grapes, and the bottom is my veggie lentil soup. Tomatoes, celery, carrots, onions, potatoes, cabbage and brown lentils in veggie broth. Slow cooked. Yummy, especially in this cooler weather, even in Florida. And it’s good for the flu, for the tummy, for the soul.

I had toast with fat free baked beans (got the idea from a You Tuber) on top. It was pretty good! But I forgot to take a pic.

Sorry I didn’t post for the first Wednesday of the new year, but it was hibby’s birthday and truth be told I forgot.

Today is a simple what I ate.

Breakfast was a vegan Spanish tortilla to which I added broccoli and onions. That and potatoes with bok choy and vegan cheese sauce are my go-tos for breakfast because I hate sweet.

Then there was simple potatoes seasoned with garlic and onion powders. I was going to fix more, but I have been sick. Good news is it isn’t covid. Bad news is that means I probably have the flu. So now I am going to put myself to bed.
