Memories Monday One Day Late, Tuesday, July 3, 2018

I’ve been out making new memories with my best friend, Wanda. We’ve been friends for 40 years now, but until she came to visit 3 weeks ago, we hadn’t seen each other for 20 years.

We went to the Atlantic ocean, and all over Orlando. Mostly, we’ve just been catching up and reminiscing. She was my neighbor when our children were toddlers. She goes home Thursday, and I will miss her terribly, but until then, we’re savoring the time we have together.

What memories are you savoring today?

Memories Monday, May 21, 2018

My best friend is so good to me. On occasion, she will call me up (she lives in California, I’m in Florida) and ask me to tell her a story about one of my kids. She knows that most people don’t want to hear about things like that, especially after a child dies. It’s too close to their own nightmare. And she doesn’t do it to placate me, she really enjoys me sharing it with her. So this is the story I shared with her last week.

Junior was my younger boy, and I knew he was going to be trouble. He was so cute, and learned very early how to worm his way out of things (and into your heart as well).

He was caught cutting class 6 times in one quarter and 9 times in another, playing at the neighborhood park with one of his 5 girlfriends (of whom he had all their phone numbers)….in kindergarten! This is his class picture. Can you just see the mischief in his little face?

Stories may be all I have at the moment, but it’s not over. A joyful reunion awaits my arrival.

What things are you reminiscing today?

I know that most people think this is an easy opt, but it is so meaningful to me. My husband, my best friend , has seen me through my darkest days, the death of my older boy, my strokes, and all without complaint. We have now been married for over 20 years and all without an argument. So, I hope you see why he is truly my bliss.
